ESGI 191
European Study Groups with Industry (ESGI) supported by the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry are an internationally recognised method of technology and knowledge transfer between academic mathematicians, data scientists, engineers and industry. These week-long workshops provide a forum for industrial scientists to work alongside academics on problems of direct industrial relevance.
The Leeds Institute for Fluid Dynamics (LIFD) is hosting a study group with industry this Summer on the theme of processing and safety in fluid dynamics.
How does this work?
Organisations with problems in the space of fluids in processing and safety will present specific problems on the theme on day 1. Then, a team of 30-40 academics and researchers will come together to work intensively on the proposed problems for a week, sharing their progress by the end of the week directly to the industry contacts. Results will then be published as part of the Mathematics in Industry Reports (MIIR).
Who do we want?
We are interested in collaborating industrial partners who have problems that can be shared openly, as well as PhD, postdoctoral or academic researchers that are keen to put their mathematical and analytical skills in fluids to the test!
Where will it be?
We intend to host this event on campus at the University of Leeds.
Funding?
Catering, venue and facilitation costs will all be covered by LIFD. University of Leeds PhD students time will be paid. Some travel costs may be supported for industry visitors.
