During a recent visit to the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRT) in Barcelona, Harvey Thompson worked with Professor Tim Myers from the CRM and a team from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the Universitat de Girona, to develop software codes to describe chemi- and physi-sorption from fluids flowing through an adsorption column. These codes are applicable to a range of important applications in water purification, flue gas cleaning, CO2 capture biofuel purification and chromatography. The mathematical models and modelling tools have been made available in the mathcol software package available at https://www.crm.cat/mathcol/.
