In a new project led from Cardiff University, scientists hope to simulate the behaviour of the Earth's interior in sophisticated models, as reported by the BBC. Researchers aim to uncover new information on how the mantle has influenced the Earth's surface throughout history.

The £3m project, funded by the Natural Environment Research Council, includes LIFD members Andrew Walker and Chris Davies, alongside colleagues from the universities of Cardiff, Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford, Leeds, Liverpool, Imperial College London, Royal Holloway University of London, and UCL.
